EVERY STUDENT. EVERY SCHOOL. EVERY SUCCESS.
School districts face major shifts, including federal policy changes, rapid technology advances like artificial intelligence, and preparing students for high-wage careers not yet imagined today.
Focused on Improvement
The role of County Superintendent is broad and deeply impactful. I will:
-
Ensure fiscal solvency across all districts.
-
Support and advance educator training and development.
-
Provide direct services in special education, Juvenile Court and Community Schools, and early learning.
-
Respond to fast-changing policy and funding landscapes.
-
Guide schools through new challenges like advances in Artificial Intelligence and shifting workforce needs.
A Vision for the Future
Education is evolving faster than ever. Our county needs leadership that:
-
Listens to educators, students, caregivers, and community partners.
-
Makes responsible financial decisions.
-
Prioritizes innovation without losing sight of what matters most — people.
-
Builds strong pathways from early learning through adulthood.
-
Ensures every student has the opportunity to thrive now and long after graduation.
Meet Dr. Koski
Having spent 38 years working in positions from substitute to Superintendent, I have the experience, vision, and passion to ensure schools in San Luis Obispo focus on the following priorities:
- Empower parents and caregivers to act as our students’ first and most important teachers.
- Provide safe environments where all students thrive, especially students with disabilities and other vulnerable youth.
- Prepare our students for jobs that pay a sufficient wage, allowing them to raise the next generation of students within our county.
- Pursue continual improvement in academics, behavior, and social-emotional well-being.
I hope to earn your support.

Districts also confront teacher and staff shortages, growing mental health needs, and urgent demands to deliver strong instruction in literacy, mathematics, and science for students.

Committed to Growth
I left the classroom to create impact far beyond serving just 20–30 students each year. As a lifelong learner, I bring a mindset and proven record of continuous improvement through reflection, feedback, and intentional practice daily. I believe strong systems grow when leaders consistently model curiosity, humility, empathy, and accountability for themselves and others across schools and communities everywhere together.

An Educator at Heart
Students and families deserve advocates who understand the partnerships, programs, and support needed to succeed. Teaching and coaching are where I find my purpose, and I’m driven to leave a legacy by equipping the next generation. And yes—selfishly—we need our students to grow into successful leaders who will support us in the future and help make tomorrow better than today.

Prepared for the Role
I’ve been shaped by two exceptional County Superintendents whose leadership deeply influenced my own. Dr. James Brescia modeled fiscal responsibility, workforce-centered thinking, enriched learning, and decades of systemwide expertise. Dr. Julian Crocker exemplified humble, visionary servant leadership with an unwavering commitment to early learning and student success.
My passion, commitment, values, and experience uniquely position me to serve as the top TK–12 educational leader for San Luis Obispo County with integrity and purpose.
